The National Home Improvement Council is set to honour excellence within the home improvement and repair, maintenance, and improvement (RMI) sector by introducing the Stunell Award.
This prestigious accolade will be presented for the first time at our upcoming Parliamentary Luncheon at the House of Lords on 16th October 2024.
Named in memory of the late Lord Andrew Stunell, a long-standing advocate for sustainability and energy efficiency in housing, this award recognises NHIC members who have made exceptional contributions to the sector.
Lord Stunell’s tireless work in Parliament, particularly during his tenure as a minister, shaped policies that continue to influence the home improvement industry today. His commitment to improving the quality of homes across the UK and advancing the carbon agenda resonates deeply with the NHIC’s values.
Anna Scothern, Chief Executive of the NHIC said: “We are thrilled to introduce the Stunell Award, a tribute to the visionary legacy of our F President the late RT Hon Lord Andrew Stunell OBE, whose dedication to sustainability and innovation has left an indelible mark on the home improvement sector. This award not only Honors the exceptional contributions of our NHIC members but also reinforces our commitment to advancing high standards in building practices. As we approach our 50th anniversary, the Stunell Award will inspire us all to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in creating safer, more sustainable homes for families across the UK.”
The Stunell Award will celebrate those who have gone above and beyond in promoting high standards in building practices, fostering innovation, and championing sustainable homes. We see this as a crucial step in recognising the immense efforts of our members who continuously drive progress in the RMI sector, often behind the scenes.
At the event, we will also reflect on NHIC’s journey as we approach our 50th anniversary in 2025. The theme of this year’s luncheon is “Home is Where Our Heart Is,” a sentiment that speaks to the heart of what we do—improving homes to make them more sustainable, safer, and better for families. As we look to the future, the Stunell Award will serve as a beacon of inspiration for the sector, acknowledging the critical role that our members play in shaping the homes of tomorrow.
We look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with our members, partners, and government ministers as we continue to deliver on our promises and prepare for another 50 years of excellence in home improvement.
