Triton – A data-driven approach to planning for Net-Zero

With a comprehensive and data-driven approach, Triton Showers is making significant strides towards achieving Carbon Net-Zero status by 2035

With the technical guidance of the Carbon Trust, the company meticulously analysed its full value-chain carbon emissions, covering Scopes 1, 2, and 3. This analysis established a baseline carbon footprint of 486ktCO2e for 2021, serving as a foundation for targeted reductions. Triton Showers has substantially reduced its carbon footprint thanks to new and ongoing initiatives. In recognition of these efforts, the company has been certified as ‘carbon neutral’ by Planet Mark, in compliance with the PAS 2060 standard.

Triton Showers’ commitment to sustainability is unwavering. In collaboration with the Carbon Trust, the company embarked on a six-month project involving 15 staff members to measure and analyse its carbon emissions across the entire value chain. Triton has set ambitious Net-Zero targets for 2035, with an interim target set for 2028, demonstrating its dedication to a sustainable future.

Triton’s carbon reduction measures are varied and impactful. Since 2018, the company has sourced 100% REGO-certified renewable electricity and implemented a new HVAC system to minimise Scope 1 gas emissions. An accelerated rollout of electric vehicles to the service fleet is underway, and the company has reduced its reliance on air freight for component supplies to reduce Scope 3 emissions further.

Data-driven improvements are central to Triton’s strategy. A major data collection exercise was carried out to enhance the accuracy of Scope 3 reporting and identify further opportunities for carbon abatement. During the fiscal year 2022-2023, Triton succeeded in reducing its Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint by 4.96% and its Scope 3 footprint by 7.77%, leading to a total reduction of nearly 38,000kt CO2e.

Regarding certifications and recognition, Triton was awarded ‘carbon neutral’ status by Planet Mark for the second consecutive year, covering its operations in both the UK and China. Furthermore, the company has invested in climate projects that span all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Looking ahead, Triton Showers is not resting on its laurels. The company is launching the ‘Sustainability Six,’ a new initiative comprising six cross-functional projects. These projects are designed to reduce Triton’s baseline carbon footprint further, showcasing the company’s proactive approach to sustainability.

In summary, Triton Showers is setting a laudable example in the industry through its commitment to carbon reduction and sustainability. The company’s focus on data-driven decision-making and cross-functional projects is paving the way toward achieving its Net-Zero targets and contributing to a more sustainable future.

“This analysis provided a baseline carbon footprint of 486ktCO2e for 2021, setting the foundation for targeted annual reductions.”
