Eco Roca – Engaging Employees to Reduce Carbon

Roca, a multinational company in the bathroom and plumbing industry, is equally steadfast in its commitment to sustainability and efficient production processes

One of its most significant initiatives, Eco Roca, aims to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and implement waste-free industrial procedures through the Zero Waste Programme. The focus of Eco Roca extends beyond mere product development to encapsulate innovation in manufacturing and corporate social responsibility activities across the organisation. The initiative’s primary objectives are twofold: to lower CO2 emissions, which account for 90% of greenhouse gases, and to employ cleaner industrial methods that produce recyclable and reusable waste, such as porcelain in water closets and brass in faucets.

In a recent partnership with Schneider Electric, the Roca Group has undertaken measurable commitments to decarbonise its operations. This collaboration aims to implement sensors in equipment and processes at all production facilities, thereby identifying and capitalising on opportunities for energy reduction. By progressively converting traditional manufacturing sites into smart factories, the company aims to achieve efficient, safe, and sustainable operations for its employees.

Roca is keen on delivering market solutions contributing to sustainable living, and eco-design forms an integral part of this mission. For instance, the company’s Cold Start technology in brassware mixers heats water only when necessary, resulting in considerable energy and CO2 savings. This innovation exemplifies Roca’s commitment to designing products that incorporate sustainability throughout their life cycles, aligning with the principles of the circular economy.

Moreover, Roca extends its sustainability efforts to its supply chain, embedding sustainability clauses into supplier contracts. The company is also enhancing its logistics to reduce carbon emissions, making notable progress in truck efficiency and implementing direct logistical strategies.

In summary, Roca sets an industry example by prioritising environmental responsibility in every aspect of its business, from product development and manufacturing to supply chain management and logistics. The company is making significant strides in reducing its environmental footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future through strategic partnerships and innovative initiatives like Eco Roca.

“Roca is setting an industry example by prioritising environmental responsibility in every aspect of its business, from product development and manufacturing to supply chain management and logistics.“
