The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) proudly announces the launch of Vision 24, a comprehensive initiative designed to shape the future of the home improvement and RMI sector in 2024 and beyond. Vision 24 is built on five pillars, each representing a vital aspect of NHIC’s commitment to driving excellence in the sector.
- Government Engagement: NHIC recognises the profound impact government policies have on the home improvement sector. Under this pillar, NHIC will actively engage with government bodies, shaping regulatory landscapes through informed responses to consultations, ensuring our collective experience informs the vision for housing and construction.
- Guidance: The Guidance pillar signifies NHIC’s dedication to providing a compass for the industry. Through collaboration with our working groups, NHIC will, in collaboration with its members, produce guidance documents and resources offering best practice recommendations across critical areas. These documents will empower industry professionals with the knowledge to navigate challenges and facilitate home improvement activities.
- Information Sessions: Knowledge is key to innovation. The NHIC’s Information Sessions will feature industry-leading speakers, fostering a community well-informed about the latest trends, techniques, and tools. The accompanying podcast series will engage listeners in conversations about present and future issues in home improvement.
- Carbon Agenda: As the world transitions to a sustainable future, the NHIC, in partnership with the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), will focus on the Carbon Agenda within the Repair, Maintenance, and Improvement (RMI) sector. The NHIC will lead initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprints within homes, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
- Home Compliance, Quality, and Assurance: Collaboration with government bodies and regulators is paramount to the NHIC’s commitment to compliance with high standards of quality, competence, and safety. The NHIC will promote the need for competent delivery of work that complies with regulatory requirements, emphasising individual competency, organisational capability, and the use of appropriate products for each task and building.
The NHIC’s Vision 24 reflects a holistic approach to driving excellence within the home improvement sector. The council remains steadfast in its mission to champion industry standards, innovation, and sustainability.
