Members of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) and their guests attended a special luncheon in the House of Commons on 2 July 2015. This post-election event had been arranged to provide an early insight of the new government’s priorities, and their implementation, in respect of housing and energy matters.
As the “Voice of Home Improvement” the NHIC seeks to maintain a close liaison with government, local authorities, housing associations, private householders and landlords as well as product manufacturers and service providers. It’s membership includes both major players and SME’s operating in the RMI industry, many actively involved in delivery to consumers.
Following the lunch, hosted by NHIC President Baroness Maddock, guests welcomed The Rt. Hon Lord Whitty as guest speaker and also heard from Mark Pawsey MP and Lord Glentoran. A common thread in the ensuing discussion endorsed the importance of practitioners maintaining a dialogue with MP’s in order to have an input in the development of future regulatory proposals.
At the close of the event members and guests continued discussions and took the opportunity for networking in the unique environment of this historic venue.
