Around 500 homes across Worcestershire will become warmer and more energy efficient thanks to a £3.5 million scheme delivered by British Gas and Rooftop Housing.
Work has begun to transform hundreds of homes in Evesham, Broadway, Badsey, Aston Sommerville, Pershore and Pinvin. Homes in Bidford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, are also included in the scheme.
The improvements mean residents will be able to heat their homes more efficiently and should also result in lower energy bills.
British Gas is undertaking the work as part of the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO)*.
The scheme will take six months to complete and will see solid wall insulation added to the outside of homes.
This insulation will reduce the amount of heat escaping through walls, helping homes stay warmer over a longer period. The insulation will also transform the look of the buildings too, giving them a fresh appearance.
David Young, Managing Director of British Gas Energy Efficiency, said: “We’re really pleased to deliver this project in Worcestershire in partnership with Rooftop Housing. This scheme will transform residents’ homes, making them warmer and should result in lower energy bills for them as well.”
Chris Morris, Head of Asset Management at Rooftop Housing Group, added: “This innovative project will bring these homes into the 21st century, making them energy efficient and extending their life by up to 30 years. It will also make a huge difference to our residents and confirms our commitment to improving the quality of life of people and the communities in which they live.”
