The fully-illustrated, 150-page hard-back book sets the NHIC’s raison d’être in its historic content, and includes many references to Lord Ezra’s lifelong interest in the issue of improving the nation’s housing stock. He still maintains this interest – at the age of 95! – through his continuing membership of the House of Lords. It also makes public, for the first time, new facts about the political and industrial relations background to the troubled decade of the 1970s – the era of the three-day week, and the first of the miners’ strikes which threatened the very foundations of the nation’s democracy.
Lord Ezra will be attending the private launch of the book, which contains contributions from several NHIC colleagues including Ernest Cantle, John Demont and Martin Cruttenden at the Drapers Hall on September 11th.
