A crucial date for NAPIT members could be 14th August when Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs starts to go through its database of relevant individuals and companies. 
This was one of the important subjects discussed at the latest NAPIT Expo seminars held near Oxford and attended by hundreds of members.
Martin Bruno, NAPIT’s chief operating officer, said: “There’s no need to panic! As long as members have got all their paperwork up top date you have nothing to worry about! We strongly believe in best practice.”
His advice was to make sure that business accounts papers were kept separate from personal accounts. It was all about ‘good record keeping’ but if there were any problems go to your accountant.
Attention was also drawn to the importance of all members having adequate cover for both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance. Without them on board it was easy to come ‘dangerously unstuck.’
The point was made that ‘this is a litigious world’ and having a complete range of insurances was essential to sole traders as well as small and large business.
There were four seminars at NAPIT’s Oxford Expo embracing a whole range of highly relevant and topical issues, affecting all members. Keynote speakers offered invaluable insights into many areas of your business including financial queries about tax, V.A.T, insurance and legal requirements.
Also there was a host of trade experts offering exclusive on-the-day discounts for products and services.
