The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) is proud to officially launch its 50th-anniversary celebrations under the banner of the year-long campaign “The Home is Where Our Heart Is.” Since its founding in 1975, NHIC has been the leading voice for home improvement, repair, and maintenance, driving innovation, raising standards, and fostering collaboration across the industry.
As part of this milestone, NHIC is delighted to welcome five esteemed organisations into its membership:
- The Builders Merchants Federation – plays a vital role in supporting the construction supply chain, and their expertise is integral to driving the industry forward.
- The National Federation of Roofing Contractors – The UK’s largest roofing trade association, committed to promoting professionalism and best practices in the roofing industry.
- Digital Buildings – A pioneer in smart building solutions integrating technology to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- The Installation Assurance Authority Federation (IAAF) – Specialists in ensuring quality assurance and compliance in installing energy-saving insulation.
- Actis Insulation – A leading manufacturer of innovative insulation solutions that support the construction of sustainable, energy-efficient homes.

- The “Home is Where Our Heart Is” Campaign celebrates NHIC’s impact over the past 50 years by showcasing the success stories of members and the industry at large.
- Building and Installer Safety Conference at Installer Show 24-26 June 2025 at the NEC – A unique event recognising NHIC’s contributions, with members showcasing innovations and achievements.
- Parliamentary Autumn Lunch (House of Lords) – A prestigious gathering to celebrate NHIC’s legacy and provide networking opportunities with key decision-makers
- The Pillars of Impact Summit, held as part of ElementalLondon on November 19–20, 2025, Will Bring together industry leaders and policymakers to explore the core pillars of NHIC: Collaboration, Compliance, Carbon, Consumer Confidence, and Competence.
