Brian Green is an independent consultant working in the built environment sector. He studied civil engineering followed by industrial-related social sciences before entering journalism, mostly working at Construction News. He left in 1998 to broaden his experience as a consultant, researcher, and commentator.

He has written or contributed to many reports for construction bodies such as CIOB, CIC, NHBC, and CPA and worked for other organisations such as Arcadis, Arup, BRE, RLB, and Turner & Townsend. He annually edits the HBF/NHBC Housing Market Intelligence report and Barbour ABI’s Home Improvers report and writes regularly for RIBA Journal.

He sits on the ONS construction statistics steering group.

Nick Snazell is the Market Insight & Strategy Director for STARK Building Materials UK. With almost twenty years’ experience, Nick analyses and monitors the construction and building materials market, as well as the wider economy and housing market.

Nick’s main responsibilities include market insights, budget forecasting, corporate strategy and property investment. He is also a member of the Construction Products Association forecast panel.

Jon Vanstone is Chair of National Home Improvement Council and is recognised as an expert in the retrofitting of homes, building regulation compliance and competence.Jon has spent the last 20 years of his career designing and operating competency frameworks within construction and home improvement impacting at individual, organisational and sectoral level. Jon is a member of numerous construction industry and governance panels and is also Chair of BSR Industry Competence Committee and Certass Trade Association. Jon was Chair of Competent Persons Forum for 10 years and a member of BRAC, so has significant experience throughout the built environment.

Charlotte joined the Heat Pump Association in April 2023 as their first Chief Executive. Having spent the previous 10 years at NAPIT, a UKAS accredited Certification Body for installers in the Building Services and Fabric sectors, culminating in leading their external affairs function, Charlotte has a wealth of knowledge in the practicalities and policy that surrounds the retrofitting of the UK housing stock, specifically relating the heat pumps.

With a strong understanding of the vital role of the installer and the importance of consumer demand and industry collaboration in affecting change, Charlotte brings a valuable perspective to the panel debate.

Simon Ayers is CEO of TrustMark, the only Government Endorsed Quality Scheme for work carried out in or around the home. He leads a hardworking and dedicated team, supported by an independent Board in the delivery of TrustMark’s core objective which is to ensure quality, compliance and customer protection across the home-improvement and retrofit sectors. Simon’s career spans over 40 years, starting out as a domestic gas engineer and progressing over the years to various corporate and leadership roles across the energy and construction sector until joining TrustMark as CEO in 2014. Simon has earned a reputation for his vision, passion, and dedication as a leader in the industry and is the driving force behind what’s at the heart of TrustMark’s success: consumer trust and confidence.

Product Manager at EnviroVent Ltd, produces specifications for new products as well as any changes, removals in line with current market trends and regulations. Responsible for product launches, literature and technical documentation for products as well as unpicking changes to regulations and producing training material both internally and externally across a variety of audiences. Currently in the final year of a BSc in Building Control which provides a wide variety of knowledge in relation to both current and proposed regulation changes and moving forward towards Net Zero. Sandy MacGregor is the GB Regional Director at energystore and has been with the company for over 7 years. He is responsible for UK sales and Operations and serves on the energystore Board to represent these interests. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance and an MBA in Business Administration. An innovative and results-driven business manager, Sandy has helped shape energystore’s business and reputation in the GB as a company committed to developing and installing products that create a cleaner environment and improve energy efficiency wherever they are used.

Olivia is Head of Policy and Communications at the Heat Pump Association, the UK’s dedicated voice for the UK heat pump sector working to accelerate the deployment of heat pumps. Before her time at the Heat Pump Association, she was public affairs advisor to the NAPIT group, advising on areas of electrical safety, competency, and standards. Additionally, Olivia has led policy work for the Association for Consultancy and Engineering in the UK Devolved nations and led workstreams on the decarbonisation of the built environment and transport.
