Orangehouse Renewables was MCS accredited for heat pump technologies by NAPIT in February. It prides itself on always putting the customer first and providing an honest and reliable service, always endeavouring to ensure the final installation exceeds the customer’s expectations.
One of its most recent projects was the home of a family with a severely disabled child who gained greatest pain relief in warm water. The three bedroom house was specifically designed for the child’s longterm care and comfort.
Heating was required for a new hydrotherapy pool, domestic hot water and an underfloor heating system. Following detailed research a ground source heat pump was the client’s preferred heating technology, primarily due to its reduced running cost and carbon benefits.
The house has a single phase electrical supply so two heat pumps were specified with one primarily responsible for the domestic hot water and the other for the hydrotherapy pool. Both were connected via a common buffer tank to supply the underfloor heating and to provide failover redundancy for the heating system.
Design assistance verified that a suitably robust solution was being provided. Being a small urban site, there was insufficient space available for a horizontal ground loop installation, so vertical boreholes were used limited to 50m to avoid potentially entering mine workings in the area.
The heat pumps were installed in the garage to maximise the client’s living accommodation, especially the requirements for the child’s wheelchair. The installation was completed on time and the client is delighted with the installation.
